to whom it may concern, I have been fishing big lake for 30 plus years, I have seen the lake evolve from a small trout lake to a big trout lake. When gill netting was allowed in the 70's and early 80's ,we could only catch small (the ones that went thru the net)ones. In the 90's, this was the glamour years for trophy trout, the sportfishermen caught limits of trout 3 to 8 pounds. The 1st decade of the century has brought an explosion of trophy trout fishermen in Big Lake. The numbers of trophy trout have seen a decline because anglers are not releasing these fish. I dont understand why you want to eat a 4 to 10 pound speckled trout, can somebody explain this to me. I will not fish this tournament this coming weekend because its a dead fish tournament, I believe every speckled trout tournament should have at least a one pound bonus for each speck released.
